Challenge #45

Posted by The Design Experiment on 12:36 AM
Hi Experimenters!

Hope you all are having a wonderful spring! We're back this week with a fun experiment. Natural disasters or fires can happen at any moments notice. This week we'd like you to explore what you would do should this happen, what would you take with you. This week's experiment is:

If you had 15 minutes to evacuate my home before it was to be destroyed by a hurricane, what 10 things would you grab. (not including people or pets)

Ladies, you have 2 weeks to tell us what you would do in case of emergency.

**********************************************************
This week we are joined by our fantabulous Guest Designer, Ashley Wren.

A little bit about Ashley:

Ashley Wren is a mommy of three children that have a first name, two middle names, a last name, but go by a nickname.
Ashley Wren likes self help books. (Pretty much anything Oprah tells her to read.)

Ashley Wren really thinks that she should be given the opportunity to work for Saturday Night Live.
Ashley Wren loves coffee - especially with English Almond
Toffee creamer and three Equals. Ashley Wren clips coupons and always forgets to use them.
Ashley Wren wants to learn how to sew - so that she can make her children quilts.
Ashley Wren loves to write - and always wanted to be a children's author.
Ashley Wren loves anything with lemon or lime.
Ashley Wren loves quality over quantity.
Ashley Wren loves the TV show The United States of Tara.

Ashley Wren is really trying to come up with a new way to write a bio that isn't boring or self indulgent.

Thank you Ashley for joining us this week and inspiring us with your project.

Question Mini Album
By Ashley Wren

Journaling:

Here are my things 1-10 (in no particular order):

1) A family scrapbook.
2) My most liked girl trophy from 5th grade. (because no one would ever believe me)
3) A Bakugan for Jude.
4) My phone that makes me feel like a teenager.
5) My camera.
6) My iTouch. (it's so scrumptious!)
7) Big Plastic photobox w/ printed photos, negatives and CD's with images.
8) A bottle of nail polish for Marley-Jane.
9) A homemade quilt from my mother.
10) A Power Ranger for Bing.

Ashley says:

I took a serious and lighthearted approach to this. While I know that a Bakugan, nail polish, and a Power Ranger could be replaced - I still think of the things that are so important to my children right now - and what would make them feel better that I saved.

Irreplaceable
By Amy

Journaling:

If I had 15 minutes to evacuate my house, what would I grab to take with me? As I looked around my house, these few things brought me wonderful memories-my statue from Aunt Doris, the kids' hand prints, matt's football player, my angel, and of course, my wedding rings. These are irreplaceable.

Hi Experimenters!

We're back this week with a quote challenge. There are a ton of quotes out there and we'd like to know your favorites. So without further ado this week's experiment:

Do you have a favorite quote or saying? What is it? Describe....

You have two weeks girls, to let us know your favorite quote.

This week we are joined by our rawkin' Guest Designer, Brenda Hurd.

A little bit about Brenda:

My name is Brenda Hurd - I will be 33 in a few short weeks. I am the stay at home mom to 3 fabulous kids - Mason 8, Ethan 6 and last but certainly not least my cute baby girl Baylee who is 2 going on 12. I'm so excited to be a guest designer this week for The Design Experiment and the jump start was a perfect one for me. The quote I used on my layout is actually plastered on my living room wall. It fits us perfectly.

I love scrapbooking and the creative outlet it brings - I've been scrapbooking for over 15 years now and still going strong. I am currently designing for Fancy Pants Designs and will be upcoming guest designers for Pink Paislee and Dream Street Papers. I have also had been blessed with the opportunity to teach a class for Pink Paislee at a retreat in June. You can find my work in Scrapbook Trends, Creating Keepsakes, and a few other mags here and there. Again - so grateful for the opportunity to guest design and can't wait to see what everyone else comes up with!

Thank you Brenda for joining us this week and inspiring us with your layout.

Journaling:

I am a huge fan of quotes! There are so many people out there who can say it so much better than I can. I have many favorites but I think the quote that sums up my attitude is from the song 'Counting Airplanes' by Train... "I don't spend my time with anyone who doesn't think I'm wonderful..."

Seriously, life is way too short. I chose this picture for this layout because these two women love me more than any other women in the world do. They think I'm pretty wonderful... and that means the world to me.

I didn't really have a favorite quote, but when I saw this on another layout this week, I knew that I loved it! This quote is perfect for me because it's how I try and live my life!

(dreams)
By Mia

Quote:

"Hold fast to your dreams, for without them life is like a broken winged bird that cannot fly." -Langston Hughes

Journaling:

Ever since I discovered this quote in high school, I have always been drawn to it. You see everyone has dreams in life, whether they may be big or small dreams, they are still our dreams. My dreams have definitely changed over the years but I still, and will continue to have them. This quote serves as a reminder for me to keep dreaming those dreams. To keep hoping and that even if I achieve certain dreams, I need to make new ones. A reminder that a life without dreams & hopes is no life at all.

Hi Experimenters!

Hope you all had a wonderful two weeks. We're back again this week with a different sort of experiment. This week we're going to focus on color, rather shall we say, two colors and the emotions they bring to you. So without further ado this week's experiment:

Its all about the colors red or yellow. There are some that believe that colors can evoke emotion, feeling...that they can convey a certain mood that a person is feeling. So creating a monochromatic layout with the color red or yellow, tell us what that color evokes in you? What do you feel when you see the color red or yellow? Are you relaxed, calmed, angered? Do you see red as an expression or color of love? Does yellow remind you of something from your childhood?

Choose one color and express your feeling, emotion when it comes to that color.

So remember ladies you have two weeks to let us know your color.

This week we are joined by our super amazing Guest Designer, Amanda Stanford.

A little bit about Amanda:

Hi, I'm
Amanda Stanford, a busy stay at home Mom of three little 'uns. I crave my morning coffee, I don't like going to the mall, and I'm possibly the worst decision maker ever! You definitely don't want to get stuck behind me at the paint store! I love design, print, pattern and texture. I can't believe I've discovered a hobby that allows me to combine and "play" with them all on such a small scale, and do it over and over and over again.

After taking a five year break from scrapbooking to start my family, I got back into it two years ago with renewed interest and a whole new creative scrap style. I still feel like somewhat of a newbie, but I think I'll always feel that way! Scrapbooking is definitely a creative outlet for me, a break from my chaotic household and MY time to play -- preserving precious memories and life stories is just the icing on the cake. It doesn't get any better!

I'm currently designing for
Label Tulip, and have recently been published in issues of Scrapbook Trends and {entreARTistes}. And I'm thrilled to be Guest Designing for The Design X!! :)

Thank you Amanda for joining us this week and inspiring us with your layout.
