Challenge #24

Posted by The Design Experiment on 8:08 PM
Hi There Experimenters!

It's that time again (albeit a little later than usual this week..) Are you ready for this weeks' challenge? It's a really fun one!

The challenge this week is:

Conduct an interview and scrap it! It can be an interview with one of your kids, your spouse, your BFF, your neighbor, whoever! You can ask hard hitting questions or just fun random questions...run with it!

You can use this challenge as a way to ask someone those hard questions you don't know how to approach them with, or you can even have someone ask YOU the questions! Have fun experimenters, we can't wait to see what you come up with!

***************************************************

Our talented Guest Designer this week is the AMAZING and newly crowned Memory Makers Master...Anabelle O'Malley!!! We are sooooo thrilled to have this talented lady with us here this week at TDX!!!

A bit about Anabelle:

Hi. I'm Anabelle O'Malley and I'm so excited to be the Guest Designer this week. I live in Delaware with my husband and five year old son, Ryan, who is starting kindergarten this week. When I found out what this week's theme was I knew I would have to interview him about his thoughts about starting kindergarten. He's really excited. Me? Not so much....even though he's gone to preschool for several years, this is a huge step and I'm super emotional over it.
Aside from spending time with my family and friends, paper crafting is my passion. I love to create scrapbook pages and cards! Connecting with other scrappers online is really important to me since I don't have any friends who scrap in 'real life'. The inspiration I get from the gallery here is great! Thanks again to the Design X team for letting me join them this week.

Time for K
By: Anabelle O'Malley

Journaling:

Your thoughts on starting kindergarten (interviewed 8-18-08)
You hope your teacher has long blonde hair. You hope that there are Legos in your classroom. You want to learn about pigs and you want to learn how to write words that you don't already know. Something you're worried about is that they won't have a snack that you like. You want your new friends to know that you like to be silly with your friends. Most importantly, you are excited for your new adventure! I prat that all your kindergarten dreams come true.

Thank you Anabelle for your beautiful and inspiring layout and your support of TDX!

It could be anyone, or a lot of people! There's no rules to best friends! You can have 20, or one single one, they could even be of the canine or feline variety! Let us know who is YOUR BFF!

Challenge #22

Hey Experimenters!

Ready for this weeks challenge?? It's a doozy!

I think it's safe to assume that we have all experienced jealousy at some point in our lives, a time when we wish we had the opposite of what we have, or wish we were someone else. Jealousy isn't pretty, and it's easy to sometimes forget to delight in the things and people we have in our lives. Sure our kids aren't always perfect, our jobs suck sometimes, and sometimes we have a fat day and wish we had that model's body...but the truth is, most times, the grass is not greener on the other side....

So, your challenge this week, if you choose to except it: ;-)

Write about a time when the grass was NOT greener on the other side.

Our fabulous Guest Designer this week is Lori Renn!

A Bit About Lori:

Hey there! My name is Lori Renn. I live in beautiful Idaho with my wonderful husband and three sons. I am originally from Boston, MA and I am a passionate Red Sox fan! The only thing that comes close to my passion for baseball is my passion for paper and making pretty things with it. I love to take pictures that speak to me and turn them into little expressions of art. I am lucky to live in a world with lots of pretty scrappy supplies and lots of talented artists that share my obsession! I must create everyday in order to keep a smile on my face and I am thrilled to be asked to create here at the Design Experiment. I hope you all are inspired by all of the fabulous artists that gather here! I know that I am.

This I Know Is True
By Lori Renn

Journaling:

I love this quote and truly live by it. Sure, my life has had its share of challenges,
but I wouldn't trade a day of it. I am not a jealous or envious person by nature.
I "water" my grass daily by taking good care of ME so that I can take good care
of everyone else in my life. My grass is the greenest, my life is so good. August 2008

Thank you Lori for your touching and beautiful layout and your continued support of us at TDX!

It Doesn't Get Any Greener
By Amy

Journaling:

I'll admit it, I've always thought the grass was greener. They have a bigger house than we do, they go on more vacations than us, but when I take a step back and see what I have....it doesn't get any greener.

My Grass Was Not So Green
By Sasha

Journaling:

The pic of me posted is when I was 208lbs 2 months ago ... When I was overweight, I was not happy. I was use to being a healthy and athletic size 12 at 5'10 and 165lbs. Then I became sick and the Air Force used me as a lab rat and my weight became worse. My grass was no longer green but brown. I have now lost 25lbs.

Challenge #21

Hey Experimenters!

Ready for a new challenge?

We all do it.....sleep. Sleeping restores us, it heals, it keeps us healthy, but falling asleep is another thing. Sometimes we lay awake for hours, our minds racing, thinking of the day ahead, the previous hours, or sometimes remembering happy times.

Our challenge this week comes from Sasha:

When you close your eyes at night what do you see? Is it a positive image? Is it a negative image? What does the darkness behind your eyes show you?

****************************************
Our Guest Designer this week is the super cute and SUPER talented Rachel Denbow!

A Bit About Rachel:

I collect discarded items and re purpose them into pretty pieces to display in my home. I have two good looking men in my life but one is still in diapers. I am thankful for the special people and opportunities that are a part of my life right now and try to embrace them all and still manage to get some sleep.

**************************************
You're Not Dreaming Anymore
By Rachel Denbow

Journaling:

I used to lay awake and think about what our house would look like and what kind of memories we'd make. We're on the flipside of those dreams now and it's been fabulou so far.

Thank you Rachel for your amazing layout and your continued support of us at TDX!

Closed Eyes
By Sasha

Journaling:

Closes eyes .. my images are always so positive and peaceful it is so fun to imagine and escape to my happy place! I try to keep them shut tight..just for a while...because I am safe behind those eyes!

Behind These Hazel Eyes
By Emily

Journaling:

Before I drift off to sleep, I usually spend way too much time obsessing about what I've done wrong that day...Too many carbs, too much yelling, etc...It's an evil and unfair ritual..a mental beating before bedtime.

Happy Place
By Amy

Journaling:

screaming children, laundry, schedules, grocery store, cleaning, dinner, school work, sports...sometimes I just have to close my eyes and go to my happy place.

When I Close My Eyes
By Kimberly

Journaling:

Every night when I close my eyes, I go through my day with the Lord, and do what I call a Heart Check. I ask for forgiveness and try to do better. I can sleep in peace and wake up with a fresh clean slate. I thank God for His grace, and live each new day to glorify His name. 8/08
